products are approved as cruelty free under the Leaping Bunny Programme.

We do not test any of our ingredients, formulas or finished products on animals. We ensure our products are cruelty-free every step of the way.

Furthermore, we are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.

All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

No. Votary is owned by our two co-founders Arabella Preston and Charlotte Semler who are committed to never testing on animals.

All of our outer paper and card packaging is recyclable.

Our box manufacturers are FSC & PEFC certified, and they support the World Land Trust to offset any emissions produced during manufacture.

We use recyclable glass bottles which also work to preserve our luxurious oils from over-exposure to sunlight and heat. The glass pipette vials can be carefully separated and put in glass recycling. Our plastic pumps are currently not recyclable and we are looking into alternatives.

Our products are packed using brown recyclable paper.

Our gift boxes are packed with recyclable shredded paper.

Votary products are made from a combination of organic and non organic oils and botanical actives, with our priority being the quality of each ingredient. Some of our chosen oils and ingredients are not available organically, or are of inconsistent quality when organic. We hand-pick the best quality ingredients for the best possible results.

Free from fragrance allergens is the accurate way to say fragrance-free. Super Seed Facial Oil, Super Boost Night Drops, Super Seed Serum, Super Seed Nutrient Cream, Radiance Reveal Mask, Nutrient Cream Light are all free from fragrance allergens and are designed to be used on even the most sensitive and delicate skin.

Votary Intense Night Oil and Intense Eye Oil contain a particularly gentle, oil soluble form of ester retinoid called Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate at 0.2%.

If you are using the Intense Night Oil or Intense Eye Oil, we advise using them only at night, and we advise against using any other products which contain retinol. We also suggest you use a daily SPF as skin can become more sensitised to sunlight with retinol use.

Products containing retinoid should not be used during pregnancy.

We recommend using a daily SPF whatever skincare you are using. Our facial cleansing oils are brilliant at removing every trace of it, so you can protect your skin from UVA and UVB during the daytime without congesting your skin or making it dull over time.

Palm oil derivatives are present within one or two ingredients we use in Super Seed Nutrient Cream and Super Seed Serum and Intense Overnight Mask. Every ingredient we use is RSPO certified. We continue to work with all our suppliers to source only the most environmentally responsible ingredients in keeping with our vegan and cruelty-free status.

Yes, some do.

Votary Body Treatment Oil contains macadamia nut oil.

Beauty Drops contain hazelnut oil.

Votary Intense Eye Oil, Antidote Night Oil, and  Tinted Lip Gloss contain sweet almond oil. Tinted Lip Gloss contains soybean oil.

Votary Super Seed Nutrient Cream, Pillow Spray, Tinted Lip Gloss and Intense Overnight Mask contain coconut oil which is classified as a nut, a fruit and a seed. Check NCL.

Some Votary products contain an emollient, cetearyl alcohol, which may be sourced from coconut or palm oil. Cetearyl alcohol is found in Super Seed Nutrient Cream, Super Seed Serum, Intense Overnight Mask, Radiance Reveal Mask and Natural Glow Day Cream.

Votary skincare is bottled in facilities which handle other products which may or may not contain other allergens.

Votary products – including Votary Super Seed Nutritional Supplement – are gluten free and suitable for coeliacs.

An exception is Super Seed Serum which may contain gluten, as the oat extract used may contain gluten. Intense Overnight Mask.

We have many customers who have found Votary to be transformational if they have these issues. However,  all skins are different and we suggest patch testing on a small area of your neck over several days to see how your skin reacts. Roaccutane can make skin dry and sensitive. Any fragranced products – even naturally fragranced ones – are best avoided. Our Super Seed Facial Oil and Super Seed Nutrient Cream are fragrance-free and so can be used by Roaccutane users but we suggest careful patch testing on an area of your neck for a few days first.

We recommend keeping Votary skincare out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

This symbol  tells you the recommended number of months within which the product should be used after opening, provided the product has been stored under normal conditions and not exposed to extreme temperatures. For example (6M) means you should replace this product 6 months after first opening.

Not at all. Natural raw ingredients can vary greatly in colour and fragrance. We make all our products in small, fresh batches. This means that there can sometimes be slight differences in colour and fragrance which is in keeping with their natural origins.
