Peach kernel oil is another of my favourite, hero ingredients in our  range of pure plant oil formulas. There’s something so beautiful about a perfectly ripe peach.  I planted an espaliered tree against a sunny south-facing wall at home, and the fragrance of both the blossom in the spring and the ripening fruit on summer afternoons makes it one of my favourite places in the garden.

I love the fact that peaches aren’t just gorgeous to look at and eat –  peach kernel oil has some really excellent properties for your skin.

Peach kernel oil is crammed with the  omega fatty acids oleic acid and linoleic acid. They carry moisture deep into the skin for long-lasting hydration, making it look healthy and plumped-up, and feel soft and supple.  Omega oils work with the skin’s natural barrier, helping it to function well, and improving overall tone and firmness. They reduce redness, condition and protect, and help the skin to repair itself.

Peach kernel oil also rich in vitamin C, which helps to brighten skin and give it added dewy glow, and Vitamin E  which helps to minimise wrinkles, and tackles loss of elasticity and hyper-pigmentation. It  also contains calcium, magnesium and potassium which boost the skin’s mantle.

The thin, light consistency of peach kernel oil means that it’s quickly absorbed, making it particularly suitable for skin which tends to have larger pores or is blemish-prone. It’s also really good at softening skin, which is why it’s a great addition to any body care formulations.

I’ve used peach kernel oil in three products in the Votary range.

It plays a starring role in the Clary Sage and Peach Clarifying Facial Oil which I designed for our Clarifying range. Soothing and light-weight, the peach kernel oil adds hydration without blocking pores, and doesn’t overload the skin. It balances beautifully with the natural astringency of Clary Sage oil to give break-out prone skin the hydration it needs to be balanced, calm and healthy. It’s perfect for compromised and troubled skin.

I’ve also used peach kernel oil in our two body oils. The Votary Hydrating Body Oil and Body Treatment Oil both contain peach kernel oil because it helps make skin velvety soft. It works cleverly with camellia oil in our Hydrating Body Oil formula to comfort, soothe and give glow, and with macadamia oil and salicylic acid in our Body Treatment Oil to rescue areas of very dry skin and restore smoothness and lustre.
